Are You Ready For College? Back to School Tips and Items

Are You Ready For College? Back to School Tips and Items

How to Prepare for College? Are You Ready for Life?

It’s that time of year again… Back to School Season! I'm not going to lie, college was simultaneously the best and hardest time in my life. It was incredible living on campus where something is always happening and the people are always lively... The energy was truly electric! My best buds lived next door and food was always just minutes away.

While it was a world of new experiences, it was also a learning experience - and I'm not talking book smarts! I had to learn how to... live. I changed out a tire for the first time, I figured out the ropes of cooking, I had to learn to stay accountable to myself, and so much more. There were times where I felt like a useless ball of slime and times I felt like a shining star full of opportunity.

I experienced it all in college.

So, whether you’re going back to college for the first time, heading there for the last time, or somewhere in between, I've created a quick reference sheet for your shopping list to make sure you're more prepared than I was my first time. While I've included some products to help with shopping inspiration, I put a lot of work into how you can maximize your living space's full potential.

"Where you are is how you be." - Ian Buckner

What Should You Buy for When You Go Away to College?

Having recently graduated, I've found there are 3 main categories you'll need most, along with some inspiration from PulseTV.com that could help you mark off some shopping list items:

     1. Kitchen Gadgets / Cleaning

The kitchen is my favorite place in my house. This is where I'm fed, and I love food. This, of course, includes stuff like cooking utensils, like pots and pans, forks and knives, cheese graters and measuring cups! Especially when you move into a new place, you'll have to learn how to cook. But sometimes in college, there simply isn't the time.

That's why you also need items to help you stay efficient to keep your fast paced life moving. Think about some kitchen gadgets, cooking gadgets, and cleaning supplies that will help maintain cleanliness and time efficiency within your life.

Here are some of my favorite food and organization gadgets we have at PuleTV.com:

This will help you quickly and easily make Ramen for 2 in just minutes! As we all know, Ramen is a college staple - one that I indulged in quite frequently!

Incredi-Egg

Everyone loves breakfast, but no one loves making it. Now, you can get some delicious homemade eggs in minutes with The Incredi-Egg! Egg dishes of all kinds will fill your grumbling stomach without leaving behind all those dishes.

Kitchen Baggie Organizer

Keep all your essential baggies in one place looking neat and tidy!

Silicone Air fryer liner

The air fryer is 100% a college staple. You gotta have one, it makes all your favorite quick freezer foods in half the time it takes your oven. But it's so annoying to clean. WIth this silicone air fryer liner, it turns scrubbing that crusty fryer into a quick rinse in the sink. It even comes included with a silicone basting brush!

Water Bottle Organizer

This one may be a little more niche, but it's doesn't have to just be an organizer for your extensive Stanley Water Bottle collection! Use it for mail, dog accessories, shoes, cooking accessories and utensils, toiletries, and anything else you can think of!

     2. Productivity

As a college student, you gotta find ways to stay productive. While this is the time in your life to finally kick back and enjoy your new found freedom, it's important to maintain a healthy balance between freetime and worktime. It's easier more than ever to find distractions that tempt you away from chores and school work.

If you neglect this aspect of your life, you'll soon reap the consequences. So whether you're cleaning up the pad or doing homework, it's important to keep in mind how you're going to maintain a healthy and responsible work/life balance.

Volcano steamer

Scrubbing that microwave is one of the worst of all chores. But now, use the power of steam so all you need to do is to wipe the inside with a paper towel and viola! You have a clean microwave.

Cutlery Cleaner

Clean those dirty forks, knives, and spoons all at once with one hand! This is currently in my sink and I can't live without it. It makes dishes much less of a chore!

Mechanical Keyboard

As a college kid, and even at work, I'm always typing. That's why I would recommend getting a nice keyboard for your desktop. It's one of those thing you didn't know you needed.

Panda Planner

This can help keep you on track, not only at work but in your overall life goals! It's completely reusable and you can quickly scan the documents to the cloud using just your phone!

Chameleon Journal

This one is simple, but if you journal or take notes for class, this will be super useful. Plus, it's travel sized but not so small it's basically worthless. This one is great to have around the house and in your bag.

     3. Ambiance

This includes things like decorations, lighting, anything to set your mood. After all, this is finally your chance to decorate how YOU want! This is finally your chance to curate YOUR space! Remember this: Where you are is how you be. You want to make sure that you fine tune your environment to fit your lifestyle. You need to create "climates" within your livingspace to facilitate the different aspects that make up your lifestyle.

For example, if you want your bedroom to lull you to sleep, you might want warmer colors, dimmer lighting, calming art... Things to make you sleepy. On the other hand, your kitchen should be a place of cleanliness. This is where you should prioritize organization and efficiency. And your office space? You want to curate an environment that helps you stay motivated.

Sticky Tabs

Hang decorations, posters, and art safely and easily. They're ridiculously strong and they won't destroy the walls, so you can get your dfeposit back!

Fairy Light Bonsai Tree

This is perfect for the bedroom. The calming glow makes this a perfect addition to any ambiance.

Propagation Vase

Everyone I knew in school went through a plant phase, and some even still keep plants to this day! But all they talk about was propagations for their own plant collection. Grab a cute vase PulseTV while you're at it!

Humidifying Space Heater

The winter can get dry and cold, especially if you live in a drafty campus apartment. This will save your room from becoming a giant dry ice box.

Sometimes all you wanna do is forget the world and play some good old fashioned video games. And that's okay if done in moderation. Well, relive the classics you played with mom and dad with this plug and play Bandai/Namco arcade games.

Vine Lights

The house needs some life! But if keeping plants alive isn't your strong suit, try hanging these LED vine lights! It's perfect for any room of the house!

From home essentials, like cleaning items, kitchen gadgets, and decorations, to items that will help you focus, stay productive, and motivated, we have the scholars prepared for all that life has to throw at them!

I hope this helped you feel a little bit more prepared for school this season. Living on your own for the first time (or again) can be scary, but it's also gonna be one of the best times of your life. Enjoy the memories while they happen.
